Normet Industries Nominees Pty. Ltd, trading as Norstar Steel Recyclers
(Norstar) is Australia's largest privately owned scrap metal recycler.
Norstar was established in 1952 in Reservoir, where it continues
to operate a buying and recycling facility. All ferrous metals are
transferred to the Laverton (head office) facility for processing.
The Laverton operation is on a 40-acre site, where the company has
a multi - million-dollar investment in plant and equipment. Norstar also
operates a 8 acre site in Dandenong for buying and recycling of all
ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
In 1987, Norstar
established Nortrade
International as part of its commitment to expand globally in
a world that requires business to "act local but think global".
From humble beginnings, Norstar processes in excess of 180,000 tonnes
of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap annually.

This is achieved by major investments in state-of-the-art plant
equipment, adherence to sound environmental management and work
practices, and the employment and training of the best people in

Norstar operate
fully computerized weighbridge and payment systems. Statements indicating
date of collection, commodity, net weight and dollar amount of transaction
accompany scrap metal payments. A customer reference can be included
if applicable.
Norstar is a member of
both AMRIA (Australian Metal Recycling Industries Association) and ACOR
(Australian Council of Recyclers). Relevant codes of conduct apply to our
membership, copies of which are available upon request.
